The Follower

Ask ourselves, "Am I the follower of God or the follower of human being?"

Sometimes, I asked myself this question. Truth is, I was fed up with people around me talking about political issues in Malaysia. One party accused the other about something, and the other accused that party about another thing, and lastly it ended up in defamation, parliamentary outcry, fanatics defiling holy places, curses, and more importantly, disunity. Again, I asked myself, "Who are we?"

I said to myself that this environment is corrupting my mind, my thought. Truthfully, before, I kept shifting my side from one political party to another and vice versa. Whenever one side started to express statement of hates, curses, I shifted to the other, but then I was tired shifting from one side to another again and again because all of them were and are all about the same be it standing for religion, nationalism, or unity.

Then, I started to hear the term of "Third Voice" where it does not involve both government and opposition groups. I was once interested about this group, but those political fanatics (i mean those who spread hates among people) always try to corrupt my thoughts. So, I discovered one outstanding character in this so-called Third Voice group such as Dr Asri and started to hear his lectures and discourses.

BUT THEN..

One thing I realised, "Where am I?"
Fact is, I was busy finding my place in this world, whether I should follow A or B or C, but overlook one important issue, "Am I the follower of God or the follower of human being?" This is like irons in the fire and most people tend to neglect the fact that we are being distracted from the main stream. The question befuddled even me myself.

I really hope that one day, people throw away hatred from their heart and love each others be it Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, and people from any backgrounds because Allah created us to spread love, not hate. We might say that we have the rights to hate other people, but please, think again, what if God put you in their shoes.. Would you be able to stand hatred? Might be yes, but for what purpose do we need to hate?

And this time around I would like to make a proposition of law. The Law of Positive Feedback: "For whatever you do to other people, God will grant you the same thing in return." If you love people, insyaAllah they will love you back, and the love will grow and grow if you reply with endless love. If you help people during their hard time, insyaAllah someone will help you in your hard time. The same goes to hatred. Hate, and you'll be hated. I guess homeostasis doesn't work here..

So, why don't we start check ourselves? Do we stock up with hate?  Remember! Allah asked us to follow Him, not the human being. If we do follow our Lord, we will follow those whoever our Lord asked us to follow. May the way of truth guide us.

Allah said in the Quran (An-Nisa' 4:69) :

"And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger - those will be the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets (Anbiya'), the steadfast affirmers of truth (Siddiqin), the martyrs (Syuhada'), and the righteous (Salihin). And excellent are those as companions (to the followers)."

..i’ve learned that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different..
..i’ve learned that you cannot make someone love you, all you can do is to be someone who can be loved..
